Pumpkin Patch Festival
Karla invited me and my boys to the Pumpkin Patch Festival at the Desert Botanical Garden this morning, so we all went. We had mom's 5 kids and my boys and Mindy's boys. We are completely outnumbered by kids, but we had so much fun.

well you can tell in their faces.

well you can tell in their faces.
everyone got to choose a pumpkin and decorate. Mathew got the biggest one and loved decorating it. Taiki loved drawing on his pumpkin with shapie, which is not allowed in my house ever, and using scissors. It was little hectic for mom and me to haul all those children plus pumpkins, but
it was totally worth a trip.
it was totally worth a trip. Thanks mom for inviting us all!!
Vanderpool Clan Halloween Parade???
OK I propose that we have a famliy Halloween parade this year. Online will have to do since we are so spread out. Please take pictures of your kids and families in their costumes and post them on the blog. Please have them up before Nov 4th. That will give us something to look at and enjoy while we await the election results. My kids love to see their cousins and such all dressed up. I want to see all the creative ideas all the moms always come up with. Happy haunting!

Today was the trial for the severance of parental rights for the boys. Everything went fairly smoothly. Peter and I sat down with the boys' bio-dad and explained to him that we want him to be part of the boys' life. That we're planning on an open adoption, with him at least. So that being said; neither one of the parent's wanted a full blown trial and everything took about an hour. We get to keep the boys! Every time I say that, or write it for that matter, I start to cry. I've been crying since about 11 this morning! This just reaffirms to me the power of prayer and fasting. We must have had alot of people out there praying for us! I CAN NOT explain to you how I feel. I'm completely overwhelmed with gratitude, happiness, joy, nervousness and love. Among other things! Peter and I are so grateful to everyone who has helped us through this ordeal. And now we can really begin to start our new lives as a family! We're looking forward to the adoption and being able to be sealed to these amazing children. Thank you again for all the love and support. We love you all!

A Birthday and Family Pictures

October 18th. Alexander turned 1 so we took family pictures

Asher looks like he is looking for something to get into doesn't he?We had to include the dogs. Things are a little hard but we seem to be getting through it. Everyone is sick. Alex had a lot of mouth sores and as soon as he got over it, Asher and Alex and I cought a cold and runny nose. I also watch my neighbors son so he is catching it too.
Congrats Peter and Lindsay, Matt and Mindi. Dawn and Rieko....if you pass it up this way I understand Tabitha wants a baby sister.
We are going to Oregon for Thanksgiving and probably staying here for Christmas. Woo Hoo! Fun! Jon thinks Asher is old enough for the whole story about the fat guy in a red suit. I'm not sure I want to tackle that.

Good times ahead...

So, I emailed Richard last night to see if he had heard anything about the possible placement for the boys and I got a response back this morning. He tole me that he did talk to the relatives but that they were only willing to take one of the boys. He said that he is NOT going to consider them for a placement at this time! I can not tell you the burden that has been lifted from my shoulders! Peter and I feel so blessed to have even the smallest chance for these two wonderful children to be part of our eternal family. I am overwhelmed by the support and love that everyone has shown us through this whol ordeal and pray that at some point Peter and I can show you the same love and support! We're not done with this yet though, the trial is on Thursday and Friday; and even though we've been told that there's no chance the parents will be able to keep their rights there's always that little bit of a possibility that it could happen. There is also a small chance that the relatives could come back and say 'ok we'll take both of them', however if they do, they only have the rest of today and tomorrow to contact Richard. We'd like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the love and support we've been shown! And I know I've said it before but it's true! We couldn't have made it this far without all of your prayers for us and the boys. Thank you so much and we'll be sure to keep you updated with everything that happens this week! We love you all!
Peter, Lindsay, Manny(Daniel), and Angel(Ryan) :)

She is here

Elizabeth May Nielsen was born on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 1:38 pm. She was 8 lbs. 14 oz. and 22 inches long. Her hair is light brown, but she hasn't opened her eyes as of this posting. She is beautiful with her mother's nose and her daddy's chin. The delivery was a C-section with no complications. It went early because Miriam started into labor this morning. Both Mommy and Baby are happy and healthy, recovering from the trauma!

Our No. 3.
We had the ultra sound today and found that our baby was doing great.
Another thing we found out is obvious...
Tada~!!
We really thought that this time we would have a girl...WRONG AGAIN!
Oh, well, I just laugh thinking what a humore the Heavenly Father has...
In Spencer's patriarchal blessing, it says that life is not meant to be easy for him. I guess that I married to that warning when I married to Spencer for sure.

You have to see this! Please go out and VOTE!!
My sister sent me this link. Please take a minute and watch the video clip. It shows some of the possible outcomes of Prop 102 not passing. I was livid and shocked with what I saw!!
Here is the email:
If you worry about what is or may be taught to your children at school... Please visit the following link: We should be taking all the steps necessary to ensure that this doesn't get passed in our own state. Copy the link into the browser and hit go.

Dear Friends,
I highly encourage you to review this short video which was sent to me by a friends who's friend is in the actual clip. It will blow your mind. Then please send this clip to all your contacts. The video will prove to you WHY we must pass the marriage amendment.
This link was sent to me by my daughter Cheri. Her husband has a brother -- Robb -- living in Massachusetts and he and his wife are in the video clip attached. They've been involved in law suits and all the ugly details affecting this homosexuality agenda.
Dear family,
It looks like our legal efforts may after all be useful and serve a good purpose during the election this year in Florida , California , and Arizona . Our lawsuit and story are being used in the ads encouraging support to adopt these constitutional amendments. I was surprised to see it mentioned in California 's first TV ad for the amendment, and it is also discussed/printed in the Arizona government official "voter issue" guide. I'm also attaching an internet video clip that is circulating from the Family Research Council showing our story. Anyway, I think we're going to be involved in more media as people get reminded about what happened to us. I've already been contacted by the campaign manager for the California effort. I expect to hear soon from others.
Anyway, I'm asking you to forward this clip on to people you know in Florida , Arizona , and California . We all have cousins, in-laws, extended family in many of these states. Tell them that what happened to us is real and will, I believe, undoubtedly come if these amendment efforts fail. This IS a big deal and we need to do what we can - even if we can't send money, we can hit "forward" and remind people of the stakes of this election.
My brother-in-law's wife in Arizona is active their state's marriage amendment efforts. One thing she sent us yesterday caught my eye, "Our Area Seventy, Elder Anderson, said that the fight for traditional marriage in Arizona and California is the biggest fight he has been involved with in the Church. He told some volunteers that passing this Proposition is as important to saving our families as it was for the saints in Nauvoo to finish the temple in order to get their endowments before they moved west."

Reflections
Hi, I haven't blogged in a long time because of a mix up in signing in, but I hope I have figured it out now. Dad is gone for a couple of days and it is lonely here, even with the five foster kids. They are all in bed and I am playing music on the computer because I gave the cable back today trying to lower our considerable monthly obligations. Colin announced his engagement last night in case someone didn't get the message. He will be married in the Oakland Temple on Jan. 2nd or 3rd. 2009. We will probably have something here also and would appreciate any suggestions. Matt just called, I appreciate an inlaw who cares and offered to pray for us. Not that it matters any more but Carri and I made up a list for Tara of why Missionaries in their 2nd year abandon friends and family.
No. 10
He just fell off his bike and broke all four limbs.
No.9
The landlady's three year old poured fingerpaint all over his stationary.
No.8
His companion just came down with giardia and he is afraid to touch the same keyboard because it might be contaminated.
No.7
The landlady's three year old used all his stamps as stickers.
No.6
The Mission President counseled him to concentrate harder on spiritual things after glancing through his daily planner.
No.5
He can't find a single thing now with stickers all over the room.
No.4
He locked his heart and can't find the key.
No.3
His mother was jealous when she found out he was writing to another women.
No.2
He was disgusted by his companion's behavior when he got his "Dear John".
And the number one reason why missionaries lose interest in old friends:
No.1
Eleven baptisims this month and 45 lessons to teach. Yea for honarable missionaries!
Well that's all for now, will be on again, will you?
All my love,
MOM
