It is hard to see in this photo but on the lower left it says, happy birthday Jon. This is a Vanderpool Original. I took these photographs down by Utah Lake one frosty afternoon and I made this first photo into a 1008 piece puzzle for Jon's birthday. He still hasn't been able to finish it. This makes a great birthday gift so let me know if it is something you want to do and I'll let you know where I got it.

Archur's Miracle
This, for our family, was our miracle for the year.
This afternoon I was in the office working on food storage stuff with Archur laying on the ground stretching his little legs. He had his 2 months check up with his pediatrician this morning and he got his shots and everything. He delt with that pretty well so I went grocery shopping. Since he was in his hs car seat for so long, I thought he needed a stretch. Just about then, Alex woke up from his nap and came downstairs. Asher was at school so it was just us three at home.
Alex loves his brother so much. He is always kissing on him and talking to him and letting me know when he is crying (even when Archur is in my arms) even though he hardly ever cries. I turned around to run another calculation for less than 30 seconds when I hear Archur scream at the top of his lungs. I flip back around to find Alex standing on Archur's chest balancing on one foot. I hollered at Alex and pushed him off of Archur and picked him up. I was able to console him after a few minutes and figured since Alex was awake, now was as good of a time as any to finish my shopping trip. So I loaded everyone back into the mini van. I was in Costco when I realized something was very wrong. He just wouldn't stop crying...more like screaming. So I checked out as fast as I could.
One the way out of the store Jon and I ran into each other. There was no rhyme or reason for him to be there in the middle of the day but he was. I told him what Alex had done and told him of my concern that Archur might be hurt worse than I thought. Jon took Alex home and I took Archur to the hospital.
Upon telling the check in desk what was wrong and why I was there I found myself and Archur in triage 1 withing 30 seconds. It was a scene straight out of and ER drama on TV. 15-20 doctors and nurses were in the room placing and IV, taking x-rays, ordering various tests, poking and prodding my poor little man. Finally they told me the result. Archur had a collapsed lung or a pneumothorax. This happens when air leaks out of the lung and puts pressure the lung from the outside preventing it to expand. This is fixed by placing a chest tube into the chest cavity and sucking out the air, allowing the lung to continue it's functions.
Apparently, the four doctors and the radiologist contacted the doctor and radiologist at Primary Childrens hospital in Salt Lake City and all of them agreed this was the diagnosis. We were to be life flighted up to Salt Lake. I immediatly called Jon who rushed back to the hospital. Upon his arrival, he and a volunteer in the ER gave Archur a preistood blessing. We were then told that the flight in the air might cause the pneumothorax to increase in size so it would be safer for us to be trasported by ambulance.
It took us 30 minutes to get up to Salt Lake even with lights and sirens. Jon arrived there about 5 minutes after Archur and I did in the ambulance. Archur's chest x-ray was repeated due to the monitor leads blocking part of the view. This x-ray was reviewed by both doctors and radiologist who could not find any sign of a pneumothorax anywhere.
By then this little baby had been placed on two seperate temple prayer rolls, had a blessing and had many many individual prayers on his behalf. So either 8 or more medical professionals mis diagnosed an obvious pneumothorax that measured 9mm....
or the preisthood is just that powerful.
Thank you Heavenly Father. Our little boy is resting.

Black is air...white is bone. The left lung should not be black...it should be grey. This is not Archur's x-ray. Just and example of what it would have looked like.
